Handmade Crochet Jewelry, Scarves and Flower Kufi Hats

Welcome to everyone who finds their way to this blog! We hope that you all had a wonderful Holiday Season and that the New Year has been good to you so far : ) Old man winter has stopped in for a visit here in Northeast Ohio and today we are being hit by a very cold and windy winter storm. So far this is the second winter storm this season and I cannot complain! We live in the heart of the snowbelt and last year we hit a record high for snowfall. This year we have been experiencing unseasonably warm temps and enjoying every minute of it! This weather definitely makes you want to stay indoors with a warm blanket by the fire with a nice warm cup of hot cocoa. It's also a great day to crochet : )

My sister and I learned how to crochet this year after realizing that we were not happy with the quality and availability of some of the items we were purchasing to make our Flower Kufi Hats (which were a HUGE hit last year!). We want to ensure that the pieces we design and create are quality pieces that will last. So, we decided we needed to create our own. Learning how to crochet was challenging and very time consuming at first. After we learned the basic stitches and created our first Hand Crochet Scarves, we were hooked! We went on to Hand Crochet Fingerless Gloves, Hand Crochet Cuff Bracelets, and Hand Crochet Flower Hats. Learning how to Crochet has sparked a new creative vibe with my sister and I. We hope to expand our inventory over the next few weeks along with new pieces of Handmade Jewelry.

Last week my sister Hannah told me she was going to learn how to crochet scarves...this week, she is onto Hand Crochet Fingerless Gloves....what's next??? Hand Crochet Beanie Hats! It never ceases to amaze how fast she picks things up! She just finished teaching me how to create a single stitch crochet scarf and this week I just finished my first double crochet scarf. What's new at Love Designs??? We are so excited to announce that our Love Designs Boutique found on Etsy is being featured in the November 2011, Cleveland Magazine addition on the Style page!!!!! Whoo hoo!!!! This is the first publication that we've made and we couldn't be more proud of the hard work that we've put into our designs and shops and so grateful for the opportunity!

In September, Hannah and I were approached by Cleveland Magazine about doing an interview for their 2011 November issue and within a week, we were doing the interview and photoshoot. Doing the interview was more difficult than I thought...you have to think fast and it was really hard and nerve wracking and fun and exciting all at the same time. We did the photo shoot at the Potomac Bead Company in Medina which is a two story, rustic loft style building filled with every bead imaginable. A Beader's dream! The photographs were taken by Dasha at Pazza Photography who was very professional, real, and made us feel very comfortable as you can see by the photo taken of us featured here in this blog. The Beach Glass Hunt is ON!

Spring is finally here...well, we think it's here. It's hard to tell since the weather here in NE Ohio has not been very Spring like! It's been unseasonably cold and rainy...hardly any sun...making it very challenging to get to the beach to find beach glass. We are very thankful and grateful that we have been spared from the horrific weather further South and our heart and prayers go out to everyone who lost loved ones and who were affected by the tornadoes and storms.

This past week, my sister and I had one day that the weather was beautiful...70+ degrees...sun and a nice breeze. So, we took advantage of it and ran to the beach with our family in tow! As we made our way down the path to the beach the sun felt wonderful, it wasn't too hot and not too cool. We made our way toward the sand dune and just as you past over the crest of it, the beach, sand, water, waves and a nice cool breeze! Perfect for searching for beach glass!!! We truly had a great time! The kids ran along the shoreline...some even attempted to get their feet wet...the water was bone chillingly cold!!! Everyone had a great time!!!

I absolutely love the beach. It is a place that I feel completely at peace and in my element. I feel closest to the Lord in these quiet moments on the beach...there is just such a peace and tranquility in the sound of the waves, the touch of breeze in your hair and on your face, the sound of laughter from the children running along the shore and the stillness of everything surrounding it. This is the reason we are so passionate about our beach glass designs.

In our search we did find quite a bit of beach glass, not as much as we have in previous years though. I'm beginning to wonder if the beach glass off the shores of Lake Erie will eventually become a rare thing to find...making these tiny little treasures hidden in the rocks and sand rare gems. For now, we are thankful for the pieces we do find and are continuing to design and create new designs for our Beach Glass Store on Etsy called Glass Sparrows.

Over the next few weeks you will find some of the glass we found this day in our new designs! In the meantime...please visit our little store on Etsy and let us know what you think of our designs and what you would like us to design in the future. Also, enjoy the pictures I've posted from our little adventure! My sister Hannah is expecting a little baby girl in August, but, that did not stop her from hitting the beach and finding beach glass!!! New Seaglass Jewelry Designs

So, Hannah and I have had a wonderful Holiday and hope that you did also!!!! Now that the celebrating is over...it's time to re-focus and start designing some new jewelry! What better way to start than with our Seaglass Jewelry. We love designing beach glass jewelry because every piece is one of a kind and inspires us in different ways making each piece unique.

I just posted these two pieces featuring gorgeous Aqua Blue Seaglass found off the shore of Cape Cod Bay. These pieces are RARE and GENUINE pieces of seaglass. The first necklace is named Aqua Blue Leaf Seaglass Necklace and features a gorgeous piece of Seaglass with detail from the bottle it came from. We've hand drilled and handwrapped this piece creating a pendant. A whimsical, antiqued, Leaf Charm rests upon the the glass which is secured to delicate, crimped, Sterling Silver Chain. It's all about the details and this chain is lovely! The necklace is finished with a handwrapped Swarovski Crystal Pearl in Light Grey and a stunning Sterling Silver Swirl Toggle Clasp.

The second necklace we've designed features a RARE piece of Deep Aqua Blue seaglass also with detail from the bottle it came from. This piece is hand drilled and handwrapped creating a pendant. A lovely, hand patinaed, Bird Nest Charm rests upon the glass pendant which is secured to Brass Chain. A hand patinaed, Sparrow Charm Connector is secured to the Brass Lobster Clasp. As the clasp moves around the necklace...the bird is either flying toward the nest or away from it.

We are blessed to be a blessing and it is with a cheerful heart that we sow into these ministries. If I were to go back in time and have a second chance at planning my wedding...I would definitely have a wedding on the beach at sunset. There is no other place I would rather be given the choice. Since I cannot re-do my wedding and I did have a beautiful fall wedding...I can certainly make someone else's beach wedding come true.

Recently, Hannah and I created beach inspired jewelry for two weddings. In both, the bride was the inspiration for the design and incorporated her ideas into the final product. For the Beachglass Bridal Necklace, the bride personally picked out each piece of glass choosing a gorgeous Aqua piece of seaglass as the pendant and two Clear pieces of seaglass as accent links. Tiny Swarovski Crystals in clear AB and pearls in white are handwrapped throughout the delicate sterling silver chain. A detailed Sterling Silver Starfish Charm rests next to the pendant finishing this gorgeous necklace.

Our second bride was looking for a personal gift for her Bridesmaids and chose our Personalized Bridesmaids Bracelets with Cobalt Blue Seaglass. Each bracelet is handwrapped with a hand stamped sterling silver initial charm with her choice of Swarovski Crystal accents. The result is absolutely stunning! They will make the perfect gift for her Bridesmaids!

Tropical Wedding Theme

We absolutely LoVe designing custom wedding jewelry for Brides! Just recently, we created the wedding jewelry pictured in the above photos with a Classy Tropical Wedding Theme. We absolutely love the bold colors used by Gabrielle for her wedding theme...the boldness of fuschia roses against the striking color of the tropical green Bridesmaids Dresses is genius! For the Bride, who is stunning, she chose our Glamour Flower Brooch Necklace with handknotted Ivory Swarovski Crystal Pearls to match her dress and for the Flower Girl, her daughter, who is absolutely beautiful, she chose our Fuschia Flower Necklace with matching earrings. It could not have turned out any more perfect!

Cozy Embroidered Cotton Scarf

Autumn is right around the corner.....time to prepare for cooler breezes, to look for the changing leaves, and the warmth of comfy sweaters and jeans. Right now, Hannah and I are preparing for craft shows as the holidays draw nearer and with that, we are working in some comfy, cozy cotton jersey scarves to help keep everyone warm and look good this fall :)

We just listed this very comfy Cotton Jersey Scarf in our store on Etsy. Hannah picked out this casual pink and grey cotton jersey fabric and added a woven trim accent across the bottom. As she was working on this scarf, she came across this grey silk ribbon flower brooch that you can secure to the scarf anywhere you feel like. What's so great about this combination is the versatility of the scarf and the flower. The scarf can be worn wrapped around the neck, as a shawl across the shoulders, or wrap it around your head and use it as a wrap or a headband. The flower pin can be secured anywhere on the scarf, as a hair clip by itself, or as a brooch. There are so many fashion possibilities with this pair you just can't go wrong! Autumn Wedding

I recently created my first ever treasury on Etsy. Etsy recently opened up the treasury's allowing more people to create them and share them. Up until that point, you had to wait for an opening to create a treasury and then you had to have superfast cyber ability in order to make it in before everyone else, who were also patiently waiting for that split second opening. It was frustrating and I just did not have the time to wait for an opening. So, when they opened up the treasury's, I was really excited to get my chance to create one.

So, since Autumn is right around the corner, I decided to create an Autumn Wedding Treasury. I had a lot of fun surfing through all the very talented artisans in this category and received a lot of inspiration as a result. I was pleasantly surprised by the experience...I really enjoyed it and I get to promote some of work of my fellow artisans which is rewarding in itself :)

Inspired by the Sand Dollar

I recently designed some jewelry for our newest online store, Glass Sparrows on Etsy, using Sand Dollar Charms combined with the beach glass that my sister and I have found off the shores of lake Erie. We often incorporate nature into our designs and use what we see as our inspiration for new designs.

Growing up, we often vacationed by the ocean. I LoVeD finding little treasures on the beach and one of themost prized treasures was finding a Sand Dollar that was not damaged! I did find one on our last trip to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. It was completely by accident. We had just arrived at the beach and decided to take a walk along the shore with my family. We were just walking along the beach reminiscing about past vacations and listening to the sound of the waves and breathing in the ocean air. I just happened to take a look down and saw a little Sand Dollar floating in the waves..not damaged...almost like it was just waiting for me to look down and snatch it up! I have to say...finding that sand dollar was probably one of the best moments of our vacation. Later on that week, my Aunt brought me a post card that she had found at one of the stores and on it was the Legend of the Sand Dollar. This is what it said:

"The Holy Ghost Shell, otherwise known as the Sand Dollar is one of nature's most unusual specimens of marine life. The markings on the shell symbolize the birth, crucifixion, and resurrection of Christ. An outline of the Easter Lily is a five pointed star that represents the star of Bethlehem. The narrow elliptical openings are remeniscent of the five wounds made in the body of Christ during the crucifixion. On the underside of the shell is an easily recognized outline of the Christmas Poinsettia. When the shell is broken open, cells are found each holding five objects that look like five birds in flight. These represent the Doves of Peace. Another interpretation of these bird-like objects connects them to the angels who sang to the shepherds in the first Christmas morning."

Don't you just love that! I certainly do...nothing makes me more at peace and content then being at the ocean and seeing God in every living thing, in each wave that crashes on the shore, in every breath that I take, and in every little treasure hidden in the sand.

It's All About Giving Back

Hey everyone! I just wanted to take a minute to share with you a wonderful local family from Chardon, Ohio who suffered a terrible tragedy this past year. Byron Luther and his wife Jennifer live in the Chardon area with their two daughters. Byron is a member of Morning Star Friends Church (also our church) and is the drummer in our worship band. He is a dedicated father, loving husband, faithful to helping his community, and has a great love for his friends and family. On March 1st, 2010, Byron fell 30ft. at his job in Lorain, Ohio. He was rushed to the hospital and then into surgery as he suffered from swelling and bleeding on the brain. It has been an uphill battle for Byron and his family since. The Luther family has been lifted up in prayer throughout this battle with prayer chains from coast to coast. Byron is now home, in a wheelchair, and slowly recovering movement and making tremendous strides in his recovery.

The faith of the Luther family is inspiring...the response from our community has been wonderful!!! This tragedy has been an incredible financial hardship on the Luther family. We see this as a wonderful opportunity to *GIVE BACK* to a family who has given this community and Morning Star Friends Church so much over the years! This is what we are called to do! To LOVE one another and GIVE to those in need! On July 24th, 2010 is Byron Luther Benefit Day....this event will be held at Morning Star Friends Church in Chardon, Ohio. Please come and join us for a Cornhole Tournament, Cook Out, Music featuring local bands and Praise Apella, a Bake Sale and Chinese Auction, and you can participate in the 5K Run/Walk. We will also have games for the children and many more FUN events to participate in!!!! What a wonderful opportunity to *GIVE BACK* to our community :) I can't think of a better way to spend the day!

~Our First Bridal Fair~

Last weekend, Hannah and I attended our first Bridal Fair! I have to say, we had no idea what to expect or what we would find there. Fortunately, this event was was affordable, thanks to St. Mary's Church and Jay Walker's Catering in Chardon, Ohio for hosting the event. From what I understand, Bridal Fairs can be very expensive!

Hannah and I now have four online stores and needless to say, we've been very busy making sure that each store has enough inventory for our customers. Our Bridal Boutique was opened in February of this year and so far, we've had a lot of success on Etsy :0) However, it's not easy keeping our Bridal Jewelry in stock...so, for the last couple of months, we've been busy, busy, busy! Creating and designing everything from Bridal Necklaces...to Pretty Floral Clips :)

The show was a great experience and this is what we've learned about ourselves as a result. We refuse to sacrifice quality in the name of saving a few bucks on time and material. So, you will find that YES, we do handknot all of our necklaces. Not only does handknotting bring out the individual beauty of each bead, lays nicer when you put it on, it also strengthens the necklace. If it breaks, you only loose one bead! Verses loosing a whole strand of beads! And, YES, we do test our jewelry to make sure that everything is secure and gorgeous before we ship it out. Most of our jewelry is kid tested....not kidding...if the design can withstand our children, there is no doubt it will withstand just about anything! YES, we do wire wrap our jewelry. Wire wrapping also increases the strength of each design and adds design interest. All of our designs have been inspired by our Brides! Making each one unique because we listen to our Brides and then incorporate their personal taste and style into each piece. And, MOST importantly!!! We work with your budget!!!! Not kidding! We will do everything we can to make your day extra special and make your dream, your vision, a reality :)))

In conclusion....we've learned that we stand apart from the rest because we listen to our Brides. We create custom pieces with our Brides personal taste and style in mind. We work with your budget to make your dream come true! We absolutely LOVE designing Wedding Jewelry! That's what sets the Love Sisters apart.

Another fabulous designer at the show was Danelle Ash Design Studio. She creates custom Wedding Invitations and/or custom Event Invitations!!! Let me tell you....her designs are tasteful, professional quality, and I adore the graphics and boldness of her designs. Finally, for that little extra something that Hannah and I thought was unique as well as a nice way to add that little something special to your day.....We absolutely fell in love with Hearts Take Wing. They specialize in Special Occasion White Dove Releases. I thought that the Dove Release was a great way to symbolize the Bride and Grooms new beginning together making a covenant in marriage together. It also makes for a great photo opp on your wedding day! I also thought that the fact that the doves find their own way home was especially amazing! Hi everyone! Hannah and I have been busy preparing for the St. Mary's Bridal Fair on June 6th at the St. Marys Banquet Room from 1pm until 4pm. We will have all of our Bridal Accessories there along with other local wedding vendor's. Also, Jay Walker's Catering will be hosting a buffet with a lot of great and delicious food. Stunning Flower and Pearl Bridal Necklace

One of the reasons we LOVE designing Custom Bridal Jewelry is because of the insipiration that we receive from our Brides. Every one of our designs is created with the Bride and the theme for her wedding at the center. We could not come up with many of our creations without the Brides thoughts about what she wanted for her wedding. Her taste, her personal style, her dream is thoughtfully placed into each design. Every one of our designs is an original piece that was created by and through our Brides making each one uniquely her own. We just help make her dream, her vision, a reality :)

With that in mind, this STUNNING Bridal Necklace is created and designed for a Bride who wanted a 1950' s style wedding with a black and white color pallette with a touch of Royal Blue. She had very definite ideas about what she wanted in her necklace and for her Bridesmaids. With this in mind, we created this gorgeous two strand, handknotted, Swarovski Crystal Necklace featuring an Artisan Handmade Flower which has been offset romantically to the side. The necklace features graduated pearl strands which is finished with a lovely filigree sterling silver clasp. The result, a one of a kind creation which personifies the brides image of her wedding dream.

The Bridesmaids will be wearing Royal Blue dresses. The Bride fell in love with our Amethyst Flower Necklace with Black Handnotted Resin Beads finished with Black Ribbon which is secured in the back with a bow. We simply modified this design with an Artisan Handmade Organza Flower in Royal Blue and kept the rest of this design the same. I love the Royal Blue color...the Bridesmaids are going to look stylish and stunning making a beautiful wedding party.

As a mother of three, I can definitely relate and laugh with these quotes. A mother's work is never done....the laundry always piles up, dishes always return to the sink, dirt has a way of leaving it's tracks all through the house, multi tasking is a must....yet, her greatest work is her children. Our children reflect our love, patience, endurance, our very essence and there will come a day when you have to let them go. And still, they have a home in our hearts. Yes, a mother's love for her children runs deep....there is nothing to compare it with.

My mother holds a special place in my heart. She is our rock...always there for us....ever forgiving....instilling Godly values into our hearts. My Mom would lay down her life for any one of her five children. Mother of five and Grandmother to eleven. I don't know what I would do without her in my life.

Glass Sparrows

We did it! Hannah and I officially opened our newest online store on Etsy. Over the past few months, we've noticed that our Seaglass Jewelry was getting lost among our other designs and it wasn't being showcased the way it should be. So, we decided it was time to set up a place for our seaglass designs where it could be viewed together and enjoyed by everyone who came to visit our shop.

Hannah and I have a passion for Sea Glass that started about four years ago. We just fell in love with the uiqueness of each piece of glass and found a peace and tranquility searching for beach glass that drew us in and closer to God as we searched for these tiny treasures hidden in the sand and rocks. There is just something about the beach and the gentle, rhythmic sound of crashing waves that has always drawn us back to it. Lake Erie is so unpredictable in its weather and currents. The wildlife and rustic beauty of the lake inspires us each time we go out on the beach. I guess for us, it's a time to reflect, to see and feel God's prescence everywhere we look. In the beauty and power of the lake and it's waves and currents and in the insects, wildlife and foilage on the beach. It's a time to collect our thoughts and to be together as sisters.

With that in mind, how did we come up with the name Glass Sparrows. Well, I have spent a lot of time thinking about a name and trying to capture that feeling....that peace and tranquility and beauty of the glass with the prescence of God. In our designs, we try to capture little pieces of Lake Erie by incorporating the insects that we find on the beach, foilage of the trees, and the animals that we come across on our adventures. So, you will find lady bugs, different kinds of leaves, and birds in our designs. Recently, I started to incorporate Sparrows in my designs with Spring in mind at the about the same time that I was thinking of a name for our shop. That's when I received some mail and on the envelope it said..."His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me." and also the corresponding scripture:

Luke 12:6-7

"Are not five sparrows worth more than two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs on your head are all numbered. Do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."

That very same night, I was talking to my Mom about what I discovered and she told me that my Grandma Love's favorite hymn was "His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.". My Grandmother passed away two years ago and yet she still shows up in my life in mysterious ways. I can't help but smile at the thought that she had a part in all of this :) I know she is smiling down at me from heaven. My brother helped me to narrow the name down to Glass Sparrows.

Metal Mix Mania

The weatherman says that this is the last day of unusually warm springlike weather here in Northeast Ohio and needless to say.....I am bummed! Tomorrow the weather is supposed to take a dramatic turn to cold...40 degrees with the possibility of SNOW! Ugh. Welp, that's the way it goes here in unpredictable Northeast Ohio. You just never know how the winds are going to shift and change. I guess I should be used to it by now!

Regardless of the weather, Hannah and I are busy designing and creating new pieces of jewelry. One of my most favorite things to do is mix up our designs with all kinds of METAL! I love mixing it up Gunmetal, Antiqued Silver, Sterling Silver and to add a little sparkle...we've added rhinestones to the mix :) Did you catch that POP of color.....Love it! Chunky Amethyst Flower Bracelet

If you are looking for something CHUNKY and FUN yet still gorgeous...this is it. This bracelet is so much FUN and is definitely one of my favs. The Amethyst Purple color of this flower is just stunning against the Chunky, Clear Acrylic Beads. I've used GENUINE Amethyst Gemstones in this bracelet...they are juicy and and stunning in color. Spring is in the Air!!!

ahhh....Spring is definitely in the air! You can smell it in the air, see it in the new buds springing up from the ground and hear it in the joyful sound of the birds :) I'm so excited to see the days becoming longer and feel the warmth of the sun shining! If you live in Northeast, Ohio....then you know that sunny days are few and far between during the long winter months. With Spring here comes new inspiration!

My sister and I have been quiet here the last month or so...but, that doesn't mean we have not been hard at work. Our new store on Etsy, Christa Marie Boutique, has been a success and currently we are working on five weddings! If that isn't enough to keep us busy, we've also decided to open a new store for our Sea Glass Designs. It has not opened just yet...but, you will be the first to know when it does. Like all new ventures, this has it's challenges! We are trying to come up with some inspiration for a name for our store and are askin for feedback from our FANS! We are looking for a name that stands out from the rest...something catchy and new...not the norm that you might find for Sea Glass Stores. A name that sets us apart from everyone else...just like our designs. So, please feel free to leave us a comment with your inspirational name for our store! Who knows, we might just like it and decide to use it :)

I just want to take a minute to aplogize for not having a GIVEAWAY in January and February. Hannah and I have had some family emergencies that we had to take care of and needless to say...it been a crazy start to the New Year! We hope that your New Year has been good with many blessings!

Chunky White Mountain Jade Bracelet

This bracelet is CHUNKY and soooo much FUN! I just love this bracelet...no matter which way it turns on your wrist, it always look fantastic! So much FUN to wear :)

We've designed this bracelet using LARGE and CHUNKY White Mountain Jade Beads which are handknotted and secured to CHUNKY Gunmetal chain and a Hammered Gunmetal Toggle Clasp. The FUN part of this bracelet is the conglomeration of colorful beads, charms, a gorgeous enamel black flower, and shell pieces that are handwrapped to the CHUNKY Gunmetal chain. The combination is stunning and I promise you will love wearing this bracelet!

Little Pearl Geode Necklace

So, I'm loving this new Geode Necklace that I've just listed in our Etsy Store. It is just so gorgeous and earthy. And, it is LONG...which I love! I've designed this necklace using this fantastic Geode that I aquired from the Science Museum in Cleveland, Ohio (you can find the blog post in our archives about our trip). I picked this particular Geode because I just love the earthy tones combined with this gorgeous Amethyst Purple color. The Geode is hand drilled and hand wrapped creating a pendant. I attached a simple open and decorative Gold Matte Leaf directly on top of the Geode. Because it is an open Leaf...you can still see the gorgeous colors of the Geode while drawing attention and adding interest to the pendant. I loved the way it looked, but, it was still missing something and I found some Freshwater Pearls that I've had in my stash of beads for some time and thought it would look perfect! The Freshwater Pearl is Handwrapped with a ball end gold straight pin and attached to the front of the Geode. The Freshwater pearl definitely kept that nature inspired earthy theme going and was the perfect compliment to the design.

I decided that this pendant had to be worn LONG. And, since I love the long look...it worked out better than I had planned. The Geode Pendant is secured to gold chain and finished with a gold Lobster Clasp. It is the perfect length laying just under the chest.

Ladybug Inspired Seaglass Jewelry

Not too long ago, I was approached by a friend of ours asking that we custom design a seaglass necklace and matching bracelet. This was her request:

"Hi ladies! I wanted to see if you could make me a necklace...with a silver ladybug charm and with a piece of white/clear seaglass. And then a matching bracelet with a ladybug charm? I want it to be something small and simple, something that I could wear anyday."

Well, I cannot pass up any challenge...so, I said "We could definitely manage that one. How soon do you need it?" And, after searching for that elusive, simple, and perfect ladybug charm...I found the perfect one! You would be surprised at how few there are to choose from and how difficult it is to find just a simple, cute, ladybug charm. My fellow Etsians never let me down and I did indeed find the perfect one.

So, this is what I designed for my friend. We took a medium piece of GENUINE beach glass found off the shore or Lake Erie near Cleveland Ohio. It is a gorgeous piece by the way...oval, smooth, and well tumbled. We hand drilled a hole at the top and secured the little ladybug charm to the glass with non tarnish silver wire making a pendant. The pendant is secured to Sterling Silver Cable Chain and finished with a Sterling Silver Lobster Clasp.

The matching bracelet was a bit of a challenge. My friend wanted it simple. So, the challenge was how to take a simple ladybug charm and make a simple bracelet that you could wear everyday and still look beautiful. So, I used a simple Sterling Silver Round Link and secured the Ladybug Charm to it making this the centerpiece of the bracelet. Sleek and beautiful Sterling Silver Flat Cable chain is secured to the link and the bracelet is finished with a Decorative Swirl Sterling Silver Clasp.

Funky Metal Mix Drop Necklace and Matching Earrings

I think the the snow is starting to get to me...MAJOR cabin fever. We just got dumped on again and right at this moment we have over two feet of snow which we've accumulated over two short days. Ah well, what can you do but get your creative vibe on to pass the time :) That's why I just went crazy and fun with this necklace. Check it out!

This necklace is super funky and cool with it's multi layers of metal and chain. The messier it gets...the better it looks. I had so much FUN making this necklace and I LOVE mixing all different types of metals together to achieve that edgy multi layered look. I used this very cool LARGE Metal Teardrop with a handwrapped Turquoise Quartz Briolette in Sterling Silver as the centerpiece. Then I just went wild cutting all different lengths of chain in several different metals including, Sterling Silver, Gunmetal, Antiqued Metal and Silver Plate Chain. Unique Twisted Hoop Connectors hold it all together. The necklace is finished with a Gunmetal Clasp.

Matching Earrings are also available featuring handwrapped Turquoise Quartz Briolettes which are secured to these very cool and unique Twisted Hoop Connectores and secured to Sleek Sterling Silver Earwire. Overall drop is 1 1/2 inches in length.

Starfish Charm and Seafoam Seaglass Bracelet

Lately, the beach has been calling my name and I look outside and all I see is snow and ice. I just LOVE the beach and the peace that it brings, but the weather in Northeast Ohio is not exactly the best when it comes to walking on the beach. My sister and I have braved the beach when it was about 49 degrees out and the combination of wind and cold chilled you to the bone! It was so worth it though to find our little treasures all over the beach....untouched and just lying there waiting for us to discover it! Well, we are definitely feeling the need to get back out there again and as soon as the weather breaks....that's where you will find us!

In the meantime, we will just have to make do with the little treasures that we found combing the beach last year to remind us of the thrill of finding that perfect and rare piece of glass. Although, Hannah and I rarely throw anything back. Only if it is too small or not completely tumbled by the waves. We love every piece of glass that we find on the beach...each one unique in shape and size...constantly inspiring us with new designs.

My sister, Hannah, just designed this gorgeous bracelet and I fell in love with it immediately! It is such a GORGEOUS bracelet! So simple yet a beautiful reminder of tranquility and the awesome sound of crashing waves. She used a medium size piece of GENUINE beach glass which is hand drilled and is a wonderful tranquil Seafoam color. The glass is attached to this gorgeous Sterling Silver Chain. A whimsical Sterling Silver Starfish Charm lays next to the beach glass along with a handwrapped Salmon colored Quartz Glass Briolette. The bracelet is finished with this fantastic Sterling Silver Swirl Toggle Clasp.

I recently designed this necklace for my niece, Carissa, for her birthday. She is such a beautiful young lady and I wanted to give her something special for her birthday. I love this Tree of Life Necklace...it reminds me of the the Tree of Life in the Bible and the promise it symbolizes. I decided to use this simple matte silver tree as the centerpiece for the necklace. It is beautiful by itself, but, I wanted to personalize it and make it special for my niece. So, I added her Birth Month Color which is Garnet in Swarovski Crystal Bicones which are hadwrapped and secured to sleek Sterling Silver Flat Cable Chain. I also decided to add her initial to the Tree of Life and hand stamped a Sterling Silver Charm which I've secured next to the Tree of Life.

Custom Bridesmaids Jewelry

Happy Thursday everyone! The week is almost over and it is sunny in Northeast Ohio today, which is a GOOD thing! Sunlight is a good thing especially when we see very little of it in the snow belt :) We had almost three feet of snow dumped on us over the last month and for the first time in weeks, I am starting to see grass! I am so thankful that I have jewelry design to keep my mind off the fact that it's too cold outside to do anything and I can keep busy designing jewelry for our websites and upcoming weddings!

I just recently finished designing some jewelry for an upcoming wedding this spring for the Bride and her Bridesmaids. In fact, I just mailed out all of the jewelry on Tuesday this week! The entire design for the jewelry was done via email with the Bride and I am so thankful that everything went smoothly and all of the jewelry turned out beautiful! I realize that for some Brides out there, designing jewelry long distance can be intimidating, but, the process is very easy if you have accessibility to the internet and have email. We work very closely with the Bride and do not move forward with the design if we don't have her approval. As a result, our designs are unique because we place the Brides personal taste and style into every piece.

The Bridesmaids jewelry that we just completed took about 4 months overall to complete from the first time I spoke to the Bride to completion this week. We also designed the Brides necklace, earrings and hair clip. The Bridemaids dresses are fuschia and of all different styles which is very popular these days. When our Bride first contacted us she fell in love with one of our more popular necklaces which features a flower offset to the side and a string of crystals and finished with chain and a clasp. She emailed us pictures of her Bridesmaids dresses and we began building our design from there and we designed a necklace for her with the same features of the original necklace, but with the colors to match her Bridesmaids dresses and simple drop earrings to match. Seaglass Jewelry-Custom Designs

If you are a FAN of Love Designs than you already know that Hannah and I love to create unique, one of a kind pieces that reflect our customers personal taste. We especially love designing Seaglass Jewelry. As avid collectors of seaglass or beach glass, we know how special each piece of glass is. There are memories attached to each piece and we love helping our customers create keepsake pieces for themselves and their loved ones.

We recently designed some pieces for a good friend and customer of ours for Christmas. Our friend loves collecting glass on the beach and over the summer, she and her sister found some beach glass off the coast of Lake Erie during her sisters visit from North Carolina. They created some wonderful memories with their family that day and wanted us to design some pieces to help them remember these good times when they were apart.

Two of the necklaces that we created were for her daughters. She had two small pieces of beach glass and we decided that it would be a wonderful idea to wrap the glass into pendants and then personalize each necklace with a hand stamped drop with each girls initials next to the pendant. The result is beautiful and her girls now have a personalized piece of jewelry to remind them of all of the fun they had on the beach :)

The other necklace was for her sister who is in North Carolina which we had previosly designed her an Emerald Green Seaglass Ring for her birthday last year. Since her favorite color is green, we handwrapped the piece of glass that our customer gave us and added a little sparkle of green with a single peridot Swarovoski Crystal Bicone. She now has a necklace to match her ring that she received for her birthday!

The final piece that we created is this gorgeous Emerald Green Beach Glass ring for our customers Mother. The result is stunning and a unique gift that you won't find anywhere else.

Customized Style for Your Wedding

Wow! I've been away far too long! It's been a nice break and now it's time to get back to WORK! Even though I have not been blogging...I have been very busy. We are just wrapping up the jewelry for a Wedding in the Spring and I thought I would share with you some of our work. This is for a Bride that we've been conversing back and forth via email. We've worked very closely with her and I did get her permission to share these items with you.

I know that some of you out there may be a bit nervous about having your jewelry designed long distance...but, let me assure you, it's not as difficult as you might think and we work very closely with the Bride on all design decisions, update her with pics of our progress regularly, and do not proceed without her consent.

For her Wedding Necklace we used a Filigree Crystal Brooch and Swarovski Crystal Pearls in a Cream colour. Each Pearl is Handknotted and secured to the brooch. The two strand necklace is finished with a silver filigree two strand clasp. We have also designed matching earrings for the Bride but, have not yet taken pictures of them.

As a last minute request, the Bride asked Hannah and I to design her a Bridal Hair Clip for the wedding. This was a new idea for Hannah and I, but, we never turn down a challenge! We've custom designed the flower in this clip by layering several floral leaves and securing a single rhinestone in the center. The flower rests upon this gorgeous white feather and is secured to a hair clip. This process was so much FUN and Hannah and I cannot wait to create more of these gorgeous clips.

Later this Spring, I will share with you her jewelry for her Bridesmaids...and let me tell you...the jewelry is stunning :)

If you are a last minute shopper, like me, I know that it can get quite stressful! It's about celebrating the life and freedom that we have through the birth and death of our Lord Jesus Christ, spending time with loved ones, forgiving, and giving to others in need. I find my peace through the stress of the Holidays when I am reminded of why we celebrate Christmas and through thanking the Lord for the blessings that He has poured out upon our home. The Lord has blessed my sister and I with this wonderful creativity and He continues to inspire and move us every day! I am so thankful for the work He has done in our lives! Our business has grown by leaps and bounds this year and I know that it will continue to grow through out the coming year.

The holidays are approaching FAST! A lot faster than I realized! I was watching Grey's Anatomy last night and they actually had their Christmas and New Years show last night...I had to stop the show when they started playing Christmas Carols and count down the weeks left until Christmas and guess what?!? There are only FOUR WEEKS and FIVE DAYS left until Christmas Day. I don't know about you, but, I have a LOT of Christmas shopping to get done in a very small period of time. But, I'm a procrastinator and like all great procrastinator's, we thrive on the chaos of last minute shopping frenzy:)

So, in the spirit of Holiday shopping and finding those unique and special gifts for your friends and loved ones. Custom Seaglass Designs

I just want to takea minute and share with you a passion that Hannah and I share with many of our customers...a passion for scavenging the beach for lost treasures and little pieces of sparkling glass that has been carefully tumbled and washed ashore by powerful waves and moving water! I am finding that many of our customers pick up these tiny treasures and hold on to them as tiny keepsakes of the memories that were made on family vacations and of the fun they had with friends and family playing on the beach. These are special memories of times of laughing, relaxing, and letting our everyday worries fade away with the sound of the seagulls and crashing waves. There is something powerful and special about this creation of water and sand. It calls out to us, draws us near, and reminds us that there is something more powerful, tranquil, and comforting here...it reminds us something bigger than ourselves....of a Creator, who created the earth and everything in it.

My sister and I love designing special pieces for our customers especially when what we design brings back the precious memories that they hold on to. Just recently, I had the opportunity to design some pieces for a friend that I recently got back in touch with on Facebook. Sherry and her sister found some very special pieces of glass off the coast of Lake Erie near Cleveland Ohio and asked me make her and her sister seaglass rings and her Mom a seaglass necklace. These pieces of glass were especially rare...one was a large piece of Pink Seaglass. Only one in ten thousand pieces of glass found on the beach are the color of pink. The other two were a Seafoam color, which was a large size, and also an Emerald color. Not only did they have a great time finding these pieces, they also created wonderful memories of their time together on the beach. I was more than happy to design these pieces for Sherry and her family and I think the result is beautiful. Here are some pictures of the jewelry that I designed for her and her family and what Sherry had to say about the final result!

"Hi Joy! I couldn't wait to give my Mom her necklace! She LOVES it! It looks so beautiful on her and it also has a lot of meaning to it. She took my sister's ring down to her in NC this week. My sister called this morning and said it was more beautiful than she thought! Thank you so much-these mean so much to us!"

Vintage Filigree Necklace

Hannah and I have been working hard to create new and unique jewelry. This piece is especially unique with this gorgeous Silver Filigree Link. We've used a Vintage Acrylic Elongated Teardrop, handwrapped it and attached the pendant to the link. The necklace is finished with Sterling Silver chain and lobster clasp. The result is stunning! ~~My Sister's Wedding~~

The big day has finally come and gone and I would like to share my sister's Wedding Day with all of you! We had a such a great time and it was a wonderful day! There were some road bumps along the way...such as the fact that it was a MONSOON in the morning, my poor little neice who was the flower girl was sick, and my sister's nerves were about to overtake her!!! But, after mys sister saw her husband to be and said "I do"....all the chaos and nerves dissolved to nothing and when the party started at the hall, we all had a great time. My sister, Amber, looked stunning and all of the Bridesmaids were gorgeous! Many of you already know that we designed the jewelry for the Wedding and I have to say, the designs turned out beautiful. Here are some pics of the day!

Wedding Jewelry Preview...~~SNEAK PEEK~~

My youngest sister, Hannah, and I have been crazy busy lately preparing for my oldest sister's wedding! Amber is getting married this coming Friday, October 2nd and has six bridesmaids in her wedding party. So, Hannah and I have been designing and creating her jewelry and ours (the bridesmaids) as well! It has been a wonderful challenge creating these unique, one of a kind pieces and we would like to share some of our work with all of you. Of course, I cannot reveal my sister's dress just yet! But, here is a brief description of the dress.

The dress is gorgeous, of course, and features halter style straps with a sweetheart neckline. The dress is fitting through the torso, with an empire waistline and flows out slightly from the torso with a small train. It is a cream colour with gorgeous vintage style lace with beading throughout. The empire waist features Silver Shade Crystal Beading! The dress is absolutely gorgeous and Amber is going to look beautiful on her Wedding Day! The Bridesmaids dresses are a gorgeous Indigo Blue colour with each Bridesmaid wearing a different style of dress all long in length.

For my sister's jewelry, we focused on making her earrings and bracelet as elegant as possible. We did not do a necklace for her because it would not look right with the halter style straps on her dress. For the Earrings, we used these gorgeous filigree bead caps that we found from one of our suppliers on Etsy and hand wrapped this gorgeous Swarovski Crystal Polygon Pendant in the Crystal Silver Shade, to match the beading on her dress, and secured the pendant to a single Swarovski Crystal faceted round in Crystal Silver. The entire drop is secured to these fantastic filigree Earring Wire in Sterling Silver. The picture of these earrings just do not do them justice...they sparkle and look absolutely stunning in person!

For her bracelet, we hand wrapped 20mm Cosmic cut Swarovski Crystals in Crystal Silver Shade to these gorgeous Filigree Rhinestone rounds. Smaller Swarovski Crystal bicones fill in the gap and add sparkle to the bracelet. The bracelet is finished with a Sterling Silver filigree toggle clasp and Hand Stamped Sterling Silver Charms with her and her fiancees initials. A single Sterling Silver cross charm finishes this gorgeous creation!

For the Bridesmaids, Hannah and I used Dark Blue Hydrangea Petals which we glued and secured with a single Dark Indigo Swarovski Crystal faceted round. We offset the flower to the side and handwrapped Cream Swarovski Crystal Pearls which created out two strand necklace. The piece is finished with Sterling Silver Flat Cable Chain and an elegant S hook Clasp. The result: STUNNING! The remaining jewelry will be featured in our next blog after the wedding day complete with pictures from the wedding itself! Birth Stone and Initial Necklace

Introducing Love Designs Sterling Silver, Birth Stone and Initial Necklace. This necklace is designed using Sterling Silver disc charms which have been hand stamped and secured to Long Cable Sterling Silver chain. A single birth stone is handwrapped and dangles next to the initial. The necklace is finished with a Sterling Silver Lobster clasp and a hand stamped tag with our initials "LD". I recently made one for myself and absolutely love it! It is beautiful and incredibly versatile. I wear it every day and mix it up with Tees and dress tops.

We are also custom designing these necklaces for our customers and making the necklaces into Mother's necklaces with their childrens initials and birth stones attached. What a perfect gift for the comin holidays!!!
